Shooting Script

For my music video, shooting will take place across 2 days.

Day 1 - For the first day of filming, I will get clips in and around my house to signify the start of the journey and these will be scenes in fairly dark lighting. I will record footage for around the first 30 seconds of my music video. I will film only shots of the person in the video during this part of filming. I will mainly be shooting medium shots and long shots to show both where the person is moving, some of their surroundings and close-ups to show the lyrical side of the music video.

Day 2 - On day 2, the majority of my clips will be filmed. I will take the camera over to a nearby public area and film the main parts of my music video in bright daylight. This footage will be used for the remainder of the music video. The clips that I will film will be a mixture of shots of nearby surroundings as well as the main person in the music video. On day 2, I will get a lot of medium close-ups and long shots to show both emotion, the performer singing and also shots of the scenery.

The only equipment that I will be using is a Sony Z5 camera.

TV Studio 9/12/13

Job Roles -

- Sound
- Camera
- Cast/Contestant
- Producer

Responsibilities -
Sound - Setting up the microphones in the correct position in front of the cast and plugging them in correctly. The job role also included getting the sound levels correct through the mixer so that each person could be heard well but not too loudly. The different microphones that needed to be set up in the shows included Boom microphones, Handheld microphones and clip on microphones.

Camera - Choose the correct camera angle for the best results. Getting the camera focused correctly and also getting the cast in the shot accurately.

Cast - As part of the cast, I had to act in front of the camera. I had to know how the shows were going to run and when I needed to speak or do something. I needed to look at the camera when needed and know exactly where to go. I also needed to know where the microphones were and how loud I needed to speak to be heard well.

Producer - My general responsibilities included making sure that everything was running smoothly such as the cast being in the right place, the cameras were facing in the right direction and the sound checks were done correctly and in time.

Equipment -

Sound - Boom Microphone, Handheld Microphone, Clip on Microphone, XLR Leads, Sound Mixer, Microphone stands.

Camera - The Camera itself, Power Lead, Camera stand.

Cast - Chairs, Tables.

Producer - All equipment from all roles used slightly whether it be changing something or checking something such as camera angles or sound levels.

The shows that I participated in -
I participated in 4 quiz shows. In these shows I was involved with Sound, Camera, being Producer and I was also part of the cast. I also participated in a talk show.

For each of the shows, a lot of codes and conventions were followed. All of the quiz shows had a host, contestants, were set up in multi cam and had an audience. Each quiz show had 1 host that was in the middle of 2 teams, in front of an 'audience'.

Another thing that all of the quiz shows had included questions and rounds. Each quiz show featured a few short rounds that had interactive and knowledge questions.

All of the shows were also shot in multi-camera. They could not be shot using single camera because you would need to change who you were looking at without moving the camera. Another reason you could not use single camera is because the set is split into three sections, a team, the host and another team. Using a single camera would show bad movement between shots and if a camera needs to focus you can take it off screen but if there is one camera you cannot do this.

Were all of your shows factual?

Some of the shows were factual such as the quiz shows because we used real questions with real answers but some were not. The show that was not factual was the talk show. This was not factual because the information included was all made up.

If our shows were broadcast, the audience would not realise that the talk show was not real because the information included throughout was seen as personal to the people involved and therefore unless the audience personally knew the people involved, they would not be able to tell if the information was correct. Whereas in the quiz shows, the audience may have known some of the answers and therefore would be able to tell if the information was correct.
